Ribbon Candy

Angele Parlange, New Orleans designer, has a flair for color and style. Parlange designed this living space which was featured in the December 2010 issue of LonnyMag.com. The turquoise colored walls contrasted by the fushia throw pillows are the big draw in this room, but I am in love with the ribbon candy style table. I just knew I had seen it somewhere else, but where?? And then today while copying pics from my phone to my computer I had found it! I saw this table in HomeGoods back in August of last year. The porcelain, milk-glassish looking piece (that is actually resin) was priced at about $500.00.

Lonny is looking for Interns!!

Images courtesy of Lonny

Extra, Extra! Read all about it!! Lonny Mag (my fave on-line design mag) posted on their blog yesterday that they are looking for new spring interns! If you live in the NY area and are looking to get your start in design, then you MUST apply!! Here are the details, straight from Lonny:

Lonny Internship: Join the Team!
- Lonny Blog: "With the New Year inevitably comes change. While we are certainly sad to see our wonderful fall interns go, we are excited to bring in a new flock of spring interns to join the team here at Lonny and kick off 2011.

An internship at Lonny entails a bit more than assisting us in our goal to provide accessible design to our readers worldwide. We’re looking for interns with a sense of style and humor, an appreciation for quality design and eighties pop music, and an addiction to interiors and soy lattes (for those occasional late nights). The right candidate is organized, self-sufficient, and pays attention to detail. At Lonny we value hard work, laughter, and Pinkberry deliveries, and are looking for interns who are as eager to learn and gain editorial experience as they are to be a part of a fun, close-knit team.

Intern responsibilities will include:
-Market research
-E-mail correspondence
-Managing social media (blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
-Tracking and returning product samples
-Contacting PR firms for image requests
-Fact-checking feature stories
-Other routine office work (filing, running errands, etc.)

Location: New York, NY

Description: Flexible dates, minimum 2 months, unpaid

Please send a résumé and brief cover letter to hr@lonnymag.com.

Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview.

Thank you,
and we can’t wait to hear from you!"

Will Lonny have a Domino effect?

Oh how I miss this magazine or as their tagline put it, "the guide to living with style". Domino was by far one of the great interior design mags and it was unlike so many magazines in that it was trendy, fresh and exciting. Production of the magazine shut down after almost five years of graciously gracing our newsstands. It was a sad day for many.

In a late January 2009 press release, Conde Nast CEO Chuck Townsend said, "This decision to cease publication of the magazine and its website is driven entirely by the economy. Although readership and advertising response was encouraging in the early years, we have concluded that this economic market will not support our business expectations."

But wait, there may be hope for all the hopeless "homantics" (lovers of all things home related) out there. Former editor, Michelle Adams, is reviving the spirit of Domino through the new online mag - Lonny. On October 1st Lonny has made its debut. Will this new online version satisfy our craving for a great home mag? I know I'll miss savouring each page of my hard copy but I think I'll enjoy the enviornmentally friendly e-zine. Oh, did I mention the first issue has almost 200 pages, wow!
