Turquoise Chandelier

This has to be the most gorgeous chandelier I have ever seen (and not just because I am so in love with Turquoise). This office was designed by Massucco Warner Miller a San Francisco based interior design and decor firm. The use of the deep jewel tone blues with the pale blue color of the walls is lovely, don't you agree?

Just look at this lovely dining space featured in the last issue of Nesting Newbies. Dreamed up by a a team of talented designers from the San Franscisco Design Center. It is a whimsical space where the divine can dine. So much fun! You must get right over there and check it out. Enjoy!

Black Bedroom

I have a Master Bedroom that needs updating and I keep coming back to black walls. The room is large and is separated into two rooms, one that serves as a sitting/dressing room which is a super bright room. Here are some photographs of inspiration rooms.

I really like how slick the walls appear to be, so a smooth wall with a semi-gloss paint will help to reflect light into the room.

Art in Public Places

Mario Nanni is an artist, a designer of light you might say. His work can be seen in homes, offices, retail showrooms, museums to name a few. The lighting for the Armani showroom was designed by Nanni. But now his work can be seen by all on a grand scale.

Nanni's visual and musical installation on Milan's Teatro alla Scala is named "la luce della musica", a tribute to the opera "Carmen" by Georges Bizet, which opened the theatre's opera season this winter.
The theatre, designed by Architect Giuseppe Piermarini, boasts beautiful images on the facade of the building by way of video projection and light. The fantastic view can be seen from an expansive plaza across the street. The scenes include people sitting on the eaves of the building, giant books stacked on shelves, light bursting from the windows and crimson theatre curtains drawn to signify the end of the performance.

Mario Nanni explains that the illlumination of this cultural building is "to live from outside a moment that is normally lived within", thus bringing culture to all.

This project is part of Milan's International Festival of Lights and
closes January 10th, 2010.

"The realization that the scale is seen like a container of all the culture
of our city" - Mario Nanni

Homeslice

One of my favorite birthday presents this year was this First Slice Pie Spatula. It bakes right into the pie. And we all know I make lots of pies, well at least lots of chicken potpies! I LOVE it!! Thanks Heather!

from Walter Drake:
A perfect first slice - every time! Set the spatula into your pie tin and place the unbaked crust on top. The lip of the spatula hangs over the lip of the pie tin. Bake pie as usual. When it's ready to serve simply cut along the edge of the spatula, and the first slice lifts right out. No crumbling, no breaking.
Aluminum, 4 3/8" x 6" long. $3.99
